Standard data licence
Version 1.0, 14 October 2026. These are the only terms on offer. There are no custom contracts, no negotiation and no exclusivity. Buying a plan means you accept them. This is a plain-English draft and not legal advice.
1. Who is who
- Licensor: Adam Hale ("we"), contact adam.hale@atomicmail.ai.
- Licensee: the organisation named at checkout ("you").
- Payment: when checkout opens, payment is taken by a merchant of record (Paddle or Lemon Squeezy). The merchant of record is the reseller for the transaction, issues your invoice and handles VAT and sales tax. Its buyer terms apply to the payment. These terms apply to the data.
2. What you get
- The School Signals files for the plan you bought (Region, England, Team or one-off England snapshot): CSV and Excel tables as described in the data dictionary, plus the renewals report.
- Region and England plans: a refresh about once a month. Team plan: about once a week, plus CRM import files and a change log. One-off snapshot: no refreshes.
- Files are delivered by email or by a private download link.
3. What you may do
- Use the data inside your organisation for sales and marketing planning, account research, territory planning and market analysis.
- Load it into your own CRM, spreadsheets and BI tools, and share extracts with colleagues.
- Let named users work with it: Region and England plans up to 3 users, Team plan up to 10 users, all employed or contracted by you.
- Mention individual facts from the data (for example "this trust's IT support contract ends in March") in your own sales conversations.
4. What you may not do
- Resell, sublicense, publish, or give the files or a substantial part of them to anyone outside your organisation.
- Use them to build or feed a data product or service that competes with School Signals.
- Remove the source attribution.
- Use them for anything unlawful. The data contains no personal data. If you add personal data from elsewhere, you are responsible for that, including UK GDPR and PECR.
5. Public sources
The underlying records are public sector information under the Open Government Licence v3.0. You remain free to get them from the original sources yourself. This licence covers our compilation: the selection, matching to schools and trusts, categories, merged records, renewal estimates, trust-change analysis and file formats. Keep this attribution with any copy: "Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0."
6. Accuracy
We build the data carefully and check it against official sources, but it is provided "as is". Coverage is partial, because many school purchases are never published. Categories, matches and estimated dates can be wrong. Check the official notice before relying on any row. We do not promise that the data is complete, accurate or fit for a particular purpose.
7. Term, renewal and cancellation
- Monthly plans renew each month until cancelled. Cancel at any time by email or through the merchant of record. Access to new files stops at the end of the paid month.
- Annual plans are paid upfront and renew yearly unless cancelled before the renewal date. We will email a reminder at least 14 days before renewal.
- Refunds: if the first delivery is not useful to you, ask within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund that payment in full.
- After your plan ends you may keep files already delivered for internal reference, but you will receive no updates. Sections 4 and 5 continue to apply.
8. Price changes
Prices are published on the website. We may change them for future renewals with at least 30 days' notice by email. The price you paid holds until your next renewal.
9. Liability
Our total liability under this licence is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for lost profits, lost opportunities or indirect losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. General
These terms are the whole agreement for the data licence. We may update them for new purchases. Existing plans keep the version they bought under until renewal. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
